Trivia 3: Sims Don't Exist in Paralives

If you're familiar with life simulation games, you might be used to calling your virtual characters "Sims." But in Paralives, things are a little different.

The people who inhabit the world of Paralives are called Parafolk. Rather than using the term "Sim," the developers created their own name to give the game a unique identity and distinguish it from other life simulation titles.

Players create and customize Parafolk using Paramaker, Paralives' character creation tool (CAS in The Sims, short for Create-A-Sim). Just like real people, Parafolk have their own appearances, personalities, relationships, skills, and life experiences.

The term "Parafolk" has become a recognizable part of the Paralives community, helping establish the game's own style and world. As a result, fans often refer to their households, stories, and creations using the game's official terminology.

The character creation system in Paralives is known as Paramaker, making both the game's people and its customization tools share the "Para" naming theme.
